Cool Treats Suite from Stampin' Up!

Cool Treats Suite is almost too cute for words.  I've made several cards using it and today I'm sharing two "shaker" cards I created using a design and instructions from Stampin' Up!

Unfortunately, you can't really appreciate them from the photograph, but when I say "shaker" card, it means that if you shake the card, the sprinkles under the window in the middle of the card will shake around.  They are so much fun that it's hard to STOP shaking them!

Stampin' Up! High Tide Stamp Set

The stamp set used in these cards, is from the 2017 Occasions catalogue.  Everything else is in the Annual Catalogue which runs to May 31, 2017.

When you use this gorgeous set of stamps to make cards, they don't need to be extra detailed and fancy to be beautiful. The simplicity of the card below is what makes it so lovely.  Emboss a background using the Seaside Embossing Folder.  Then, with your Aqua Painters paint in some sky before stamping the birds on the Whisper White card stock.  Add your sentiment and finally fill in the ocean using a stamp from the set and two shades of ink.  Quick, easy and beautiful to behold.

This next card uses a few more stamps included in the set and the Festive Embossing Folder for the background.  The card is monochromatic (single coloured) and the differing shades of grey are achieved by stamping ink off on a scrap of paper before stamping on the Whisper White paper.  Add in a sliver of 1/8" Smoky Slate stitched ribbon, and a couple of Rhinestones for the lighthouse windows and you are done with a second quick, easy and striking card.

Stampin' Up! Urban Underground Suite

If you have been looking for a stamp set for making cards for the men in your life, this may just be what you've been waiting for.  When I first saw it, I knew that I couldn't live without it!  All of the elements in the suite were "must haves" for me.

These four cards were started with no particular plan in mind.  I decided on two smoky slate and two basic grey card bases.  I knew I wanted to use some of the gorgeous DSP in the backgrounds and also the fabulous hexagon embossing folder.  I you are using that folder, don't forget to lightly mist your piece of card stock before placing it into the folder.  It makes quite a difference to the quality of the embossing.

Then I just played around until I was happy with the layouts.  I think the finished cards have a decidedly masculine flavour.  Hmmm....now I'm wondering how it would look if I were to do a feminine version.  That may be next!
